After dark

Open late on Marquis Road

Sunday to Wednesday, the gaming floor on Marquis Road welcomes players from 9 AM, closing at 4 AM. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the floor stays open for the full 24 hours. The Deli serves casual food, including items from Kookum's Kitchen. It keeps similar hours: 9 AM to 3 AM Sunday to Wednesday, and 24 hours Thursday to Saturday. The Floor Bar pours spirits and pints from 10 AM to 2 AM every day.

Saturday night is where the published schedule goes quiet. After midnight, the casino does not say whether the floor and the Deli stay open into Sunday morning. Between midnight and 9 AM on Sunday, call 306-764-4777 before you drive in. Prince Albert never changes its clocks, because all of Saskatchewan keeps Central Standard Time year round. The casino publishes no holiday hours either, so that same phone line settles the question.

Since February 15, 2024, Security checks a SIGA Rewards card from each guest, who then registers at a guest registration kiosk. Without a card, you are sent to the SIGA Rewards desk to get a new card. Only your first name, last name, card number and the time and date of entry are recorded. The record stays for internal use and is not shared with third parties. Visitors have to be at least 19, and winnings cannot go to anyone younger than 19.

The town

The casino and its town

Northern Lights Casino officially opened in March 1996. SIGA, the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority, counts it among the seven casinos it operates. SIGA lists it with Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation. The name comes from the northern lights. In the casino's words, the lights are thought to be spirits of past generations, departed relatives and friends dancing in the night.

Away from the floor, the casino points visitors to Prince Albert's 35 parks and 1300 acres of parkland. The Rotary Trail is there for walking, running, skating or biking. Little Red River Park and Cooke Municipal golf course are on the same list. So are the Margo Fournier Arts Centre, the John V Hicks Gallery and the city's heritage properties.

Online in Saskatchewan

Online gambling in Saskatchewan

Players 19 and older have one legal place to gamble online in Saskatchewan: PlayNow.com. SIGA operates it, and Lotteries and Gaming Saskatchewan manages it. SIGA's online exclusivity runs to September 2029, and the Government of Saskatchewan calls competing sites "illegal platforms". A private online casino has none of the province's player protections. Neither provincial self-exclusion nor Game Break blocks a private site.

Night Gate's home page is the one place paid links appear, each carrying the Ad mark. The links point toward a privately owned online casino, and this partner pays Night Gate a commission and could be replaced later.

Questions

Questions on the road

Is the casino open all night on Saturday?

From Thursday to Saturday, the floor stays open 24 hours. The casino's hours do not say whether it stays open after midnight on Saturday night. Between midnight and 9 AM on Sunday, call 306-764-4777 to check.

Do I need a card to get in?

At the entrance, Security sees a SIGA Rewards card from every guest, who then checks in at a kiosk. Guests without a card are sent to the SIGA Rewards desk to get one.

Will you find a hotel on the casino site?

The casino does not publish a hotel of its own. The overnight option it describes is an RV stay under its RV rules, with a permit valid for 3 days.

Can I park an RV overnight?

RV guests are welcome. Security, or else the Casino Shift Manager, signs off on the stay after you check in at Guest Services, showing a SIGA Rewards card. Spots are first come, first served, everyone aboard must be 19 or older, and a permit is valid for 3 days.

How far is Saskatoon in a straight line?

Measured in a straight line, Saskatoon lies 132 km away. Driving means a longer road, and Night Gate does not give driving times.
